A Bride for the Pope is a campaign dedicated to finding a wife for His Holiness Pope Francis.

In strict accordance with scriptural authority and with due respect to established precedents in the history of the papacy, we firmly believe the Holy Father deserves to enjoy the happiness of holy matrimony.

Scriptural Authority

1. God the Father "It is not good that the man should be alone." (Gen 2:18)

2. Our Lord Jesus Christ "God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one. " (Mk 10:6-8)

3. Saint Peter - the first of the apostles (Mt 10:2), personally chosen by Our Lord as His successor (Jn 21:15-18), was a married man. (Mt 8:14, Mk 1:30, Lk 4:38)

4. Saint Paul "A bishop must be above reproach, the husband of one wife." (1 Tim 3:2) "Let marriage be held in honor among all." (Heb 13:4)

We believe celibacy is a gift of the Spirit, as is the call to marriage and the single life. Gifts cannot be mandated, so it is from a deep respect for the gift of celibacy that we request that it be made optional and not forced upon those who do not feel called in this way"
